I don't know what to say... I've been thinking about this very problem all day today and I think you just solved it! I had provided the option of downloading a zip file with just plugins, so people who wanted to get WP from the official source could do so and still find wpZipper useful. Comparing checksums might help people trust that the file is genuine. Looks like I've got a bit of reading to do.
